October News!
Hello,
Well it’s hard to believe its October already, I love this time of year with all the beautiful colours and any excuse to buy and knit new scarfs!
I’ve had a busy few months with ‘Step Into My Parlour’. I was commissioned by Enterprise Music Scotland to use the framework of the show to pilot community based workshops working with older people, particularly those with dementia. What a great time we had working on this project. This Saturday I’m delivering a workshop as part of the Luminate festival called Inspiring Creativity and Reminiscence along with some other arts practitioners in the Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh at 10.30am.
I’ve been mad busy learning new songs for a ‘STEP INTO MY PARLOUR” show this coming SATURDAY 12th October at 7.30pm in the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh. It would be lovely to see some friendly faces in the crowd and there might even be a drop of sherry or some buns!!
If you would like to come along you can find out more information here: www.tracscotland.org/scottish-storytelling-centre/centre-events/step-into-my-parlour
Finally, thanks to Creative Scotland I am fierce excited to tell you all that I am going making my new record very soon!! We are plotting and planning like mad!!
Take care and hopefully see some of you in the ‘parlour’ this Saturday!! x
Welcome
Hello and welcome to my brand new website. Please have a little look around and say hello.
I would like to say a big thanks to Jane Wilde and my sister Laura Burke-Hurley for making this site.
So my latest news is I packed my bags in October and left lovely Edinburgh behind for a little bit. I am spending some time in Nashville collaborating with songwriters and musicians out here in ‘music city’!!
It has been a crazy few months and I have met some really interesting and lovely people and hung out in a good few ‘Hony Tonk’ bars!! I will keep you posted with all my news from Nashville there is a few exciting little projects in the pipeline so I can’t wait to tell you about that soon.
I had a great time last August along with James Ross playing 23 gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. The show was called ‘Step into my Parlour’. You can find out some more about this show under ‘current projects’ and also have a look at some video clips about the development of the show.
Let me know what you think and we would love to hear some of your house keeping tips so sent them on!!
Take care and happy new year, Michelle x
